Post Communion and Dismissal

After Partaking of the Holy Mystery of Communion in the Sacred Body and Blood of Christ Jesus, the Faithful respond with the following hymns:

We have seen the True Light. We have received the heavenly Spirit. We have found the True Faith. We worship the undivided Trinity for having saved us.

Let our mouths be filled with your praise O Lord, that we may sing of your glory, for you have made us worthy to partake of Your holy, divine, immortal, life-creating Mysteries. Preserve us in your holiness, that we may meditate all the day upon your justice. Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.

The deacon would now pour the Particles of Commemoration [those particles taken out of the prosphora of Commemoration during the Proskomidia) from the Diskos into the holy Cup - again praying for those persons who have requested prayers:

"O Lord, wash away by Your precious Blood the sins of all those remembered here, by the prayers of all Your saints."

Then the holy Vessels and holy Gift are incensed and taken up, back to the Proscomidinyk, where the deacon reverendly consumes any remaining Holy Communion and do the ablutions of the Diskos and Potirion - having receive the blessing from the Priest:

"Being the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets, O Christ our God, you have fulfilled the whole of the Father's Plan of Salvation. Fill our hearts with joy and gladness, now and ever and for ages of ages. Amen.

The Final Litany

The Priest prays in soto voce:

Make straight our paths. Make us all firm in fear of You.

Protect our lives and secure our steps....

For Your are our Sanctification and we give glory to You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and for ages of ages.

The Ambo Prayer

Then the Priest exited the Altar through the Holy Doors stand at the Ambo and prayers:
O Lord, You bless those who bless You, and sanctify those who trust in You.

Save Your people and bless Your inheritance. Sanctify those who love the beauty of Your house, glorify them by Your divine power, and do not forsake us who hope in You.

Grant Peace to your world, to Your churches,... and to all Your people.

For all good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from you the Father of Lights, and we give glory, thanks, and worship to you: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and for ages of ages. Amen.

The Faithful respond: Amen. Blessed be the Name of the Lord, now and forever, and for ages of ages. Amen.

The Dismissal Blessing May Christ our true God, Risen from the dead,

through the prayers of His most pure mother, of our father among the saints, John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople,

of St. Elias the Prophet, and of all the saints,

have mercy on us and save us, for He is good and loves mankind. Amen.

POLYCHRONION

After the Final Dismissal, the Polychronion is sung wherein we pray God's blessing and protection upon our Church's hierarchs, clergy, and Faithful, our nation's civil authorties and all who protect us, and all our fellow Christians.

-- His Holiness the Ecumenical Hierarch John Paul, Pope of Rome and Patriarch of the West
-- His Beatitude Lubomyr, Patriarch of Kiev and all Rus’
-- His Eminence Michael, Archbishop of Winnipeg and Metropolitan of Canada
-- His Grace Cornelius, Bishop of Toronto and Eastern Canada
-- Her Majesty Elizabeth, Queen the Dominion of Canada
-- Our Government and all the military
-- The Pastor, Clergy and Faithful of this Holy Temple
-- All those praying with us and all Orthodox Christians
Preserve them, O Lord, for many years!

Post Dismissal

After the final Blessing, the Priest comes out again to the Ambo flanked by servers.

The Faithful come up and receiving a blessing, venerate the Icon of the Feast day, the hand Cross held by the Priest. The Priest distributes at this time the Antidoron, the special Blessed Bread.

Especially for any who were unable to receive Holy Communion, they are given the Antidoron. If there are any who are unable to attend Divine Liturgy because of illness or the like, their friends or family bring the Antidoron home to them, where they reverendly consume it.

The Antidoron has its origins in the food distributed to the poor.

The Faithful would bring gifts of wheat, bread, oil, and wine to the Church - specifically to the Diaconikon (a separate building set aside for the deacons' use.

The deacons in the diakonikon would receive the gifts.

Part, they would prepare for use in, e.g. Divine Liturgy. The rest would be distributed to the poor at the end of Divine Services.

Let us go forth in Peace.

In the Name of the LORD.
