"St. Nicholas" Visit

St. Nicholas Concert

On the feast of St. Nicholas, our parishes celebrate by having "St. Nicholas" visit our children. Wisdom is imparted, Gifts are shared, and the Saint's prayers and communion are invoked.

Invitation to St.Nicholas

All sing together:

St. Nicholas! St. Nicholas!
On this day you visit us!
We'll sing for you, we'll dance for you
and for all our family, too!
If you like what we have done,
please bring gifts for everyone!

A letter to St. Nicholas

Yes! Snow!
And with snow, as if to announce
the gift of the baby Jesus to the world,
we welcome the one who brings gifts to children
year after year,
Our favourite saint – Saint Nicholas!
The bells ring.

"St. Nicholas" approaches accompanied by Angels

"St. Nicholas" then spoke to the children - making learned submissions from his Brief, advising them to be happy and good (according to the standard of the "reasonable man" test).

Afterwards, the children sang:

Любий Отче Миколаю!
Я, звичайно, добре знаю,
Що цей список - аж задовгий,
Але ж ти - незмірно добрий.
Принеси мені дарунків
Скільки вміститься в торбинці
Ані мало, ні багато -
Так як скажуть мама й тато!

St. Nicholas thanks the children,gives them each a bag of treats and departs.

All sing:

Святий Николай іде!
Ой, іде! Ой, іде!
Він дарунки всім несе,
Всім несе, несе!

Truly you have been revealed,
like your name,
as a mighty Victory
of the faithful people in trials,
Holy Nicholas, true servant to Christ;
for invoked everywhere
you come swiftly to help
those who with love take refuge under your protection;
for appearing night and day by faith,
you save them from trials and calamities.
