Guidelines for Reception of Holy Communion
How We Pray
Concerning Baptism at St. Elias Parish

Dear Parishioners, Visitors, Friends....

We welcome you to this celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

As this is a Eucharistic Service, where the Holy Mysteries are offered to the faithful present, please note the following guidelines for their reception:

1. you are an orthodox Christian (Catholic or Orthodox)

2. you have been to Confession at least during the past Easter Season;

3. you attend Divine Services regularly (i.e. go to Church every Sunday {illness excepted}, [Church being: Saturday Vespers, Sunday Matins or Divine Liturgy]);

4. your life-style is consistent with the teaching of the Church;

5. you have fasted (from midnight {medical condition excepted});

6. to the best of your ability, you are in the state of Grace.

7. p.s. during and after Communion , we do not sit down - except for weakness.

Were You Late Today?

I trust that everyone of our parish family has done their best to be here at 10:00 a.m. for the beginning of Divine Liturgy.

If, however, for some reason you were late without a good reason (like a flat tire or speed-trap ticket), "late" being too late to hear the Gospel, please consider not approaching for Holy Communion until next time.

The Antidoron (the Blessed Bread "in place of Holy Communion) distributed by the priest after the Liturgy will have to do. This will help develop self-discipline, encouraging us to be present from the beginning of the Service.

"Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me your statutes!"
