Senior Youth Canoe Trip
...or how we tried to sail to the Indies but
discovered Brampton instead...
In the Beginning....
just like the early "Voyageurs" of the Hudson's Bay Company...
...we stopped for....Ice Cream !
we arrived at the Northwest Passage
...which looked deceptively like Killarney National Park but we were not fooled
...
We launched our Canoes into the great sea, bidding farewell to our native
land and civilized society
{Parry Sound ?}....
...like St. Jean Brebeuf S.J., fearlessly we shot the rapids, but we
misfired....
Cooking in the great outdoors just like" our Cossack
ancestors of old"
...or was that"just like 'the Kozaks' next door" ?
"S.E. Y.G." = Saint Elias Youth Group
We carved our names with pride ....upon every frying pan
Hey, we
had to protect ourselves from those thieving woodland creatures -- All
that cute Bambi stuff is just an act in order to get their paws on our
kitchenware!
Finally we arrived
at our Promised Land (dryshod), and claimed the land for our King. naming
this new world: Novaya Phrantsiya"
As a reward
after all our labours, we went to the Beach for a HUGE plate of spaghetti,
in honour of Marco Polo's "discovery" of Cathay.
here serving us Hot Chocolate
Our waiter -
...some local tough in dark shades and headkerchef.
Join St. Elias Youth Group and....
......Come to the Banquet!
P.S. We actually do go on Canoe Trips and it is lots of fun! ...as you
can see! (just scroll up and look at the photos again, but this time
- ignore the captions) |
