For Next of Kin during covid-19 pandemic (updated O3/24/2021)  

FUNERAL/BuriaL serVice PROTOCOLS 

Current protocols due to Covid19 require the that a number of procedures at Saint Elias Church and Cemetery be modified . This is a very difficult time to experience grief and we want to make sure you are comforted by those around you. Please review the items below. If exceptions are needed they must be arranged in advance. A funeral attendant will be on site to answer questions and to monitor occupancy.

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW AND FILL OUT THE FORM ATTACHED.

GENERAL (Updated March 25 2021)

  • Funeral services may be attended by maximum of 50 people (this may change at any time according to regional restrictions)

  • The family or next of kin will provide of list of names of those attending or visitors will sign in at the door (not necessary at this time however visitors must sign in at the door)

  • Once capacity is reached visitors can wait in the courtyard until someone leave the church (the service is broadcast outside over speakers)

  • Access to the facilities will be limited to the washrooms

  • Follow screening questions and procedures (if you are sick- stay home)

  • Masks must be worn (over the mouth and nose) when inside the church building

  • Non households must observe a physical distancing guidelines

  • The family and guests must respect the guidance of our funeral attendant and follow directions for your safety and as per protocols set by the Eparchy and Peel Region Health Department

BURIAL

  • Attendance is limited to the 50 persons (usually the ones already attending at church)

  • Any guests who arrive without notice will be asked to stand 20 ft away or remain in a vehicle. They may visit once the grave site is cleared

VISITATION PROCEDURE (if applicable)

  • If visitation occurs in the church only 50 people are permitted in the building at any one time including family. A funeral attendant monitor the numbers of persons.

  • If you wish to assign a family member to help in this role it would be appreciated

  • Visitors must leave a name and contact info in case it is needed (this information will not be shared)

LIVE STREAMING (if applicable)

  • During this time the church allows for public or private live streaming which must be made in advance

  • Live streaming is permitted with the consent of the next of kin

  • Live streaming is permitted if all protocols of mask and distancing are followed.

  • Other private Live streaming (FB live etc…) by family is not permitted unless arranged in advance.

  • Although our feeds are very reliable- technology can be problematic therefore quality is not guaranteed.

  • If you wish to have a professional videographer record or video the funeral please contact the office - contact information for an approved videographer will be provided.
