Soul Saturday Parastas

For this service It is customary to bring food for the poor. At St. Elias, these non-perishable foodstuffs brought to the service will be donated to a food bank or local charity.

Six Saturdays of the year are set aside as Soul Saturdays. The first of six is this Saturday, February 18th! A special service "Parastas" is served for the souls of our departed family. Little memorial books are available for you to record the names of family members who have departed. These names are read at each of the Soul Saturdays. The little black books are available in the narthex.   Place your Memorial Booklet with the offering in it into the box marked for them. One offering suffices for the year's services.  May the memory of our ancestors be everlasting.  (Please note:  there are no envelopes in your box for Soul Saturday offerings.  These are considered clergy stipends and are not recorded as donations.
